People Progressive Party (PPP) apparent ‘good intention’ to help Sarawak Barisan Nasional comes next state elections met with cold shoulder by local political parties.
On Saturday, Abang Johari, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president, potential successor to Taib said “it is not right for the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) to spread its wings to the state”, by local media.
He said the peninsula-based party should not further confuse Sarawakians, while hoping not many Sarawakians would be tempted to join PPP.
PPP is currently the only BN component without any elected representative, set up its Sarawak pro-tem committee in 2008.
Last Sunday, the peninsula-based party launched a six-month membership drive here to get 100,000 members.
Its entry into Sarawak has irked the component members of the state BN — PBB, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
